The Journey Begins

Judy and I have had the privilege to travel most of the world during our 46 years of marriage. Some trips were a few days and others were a few weeks. But every journey had a beginning and an end. Last Thursday began a journey that we don't know where or when it will end. But we know our Travel Agent and He will guide us all the way to our destination.

To bring you up-to-date to the present...Judy had been experiencing some digestive problems for quite a while, self-treating it for this or that, never getting better. I finally convinced her to go to the doctor. She was in between primary care docs and had a time finding one to accept Medicare. Any way, when she had her appointment, the doctor tested her for a number of things, giving her a prescription for an antibiotic. When that didn't seem to help, he decided to do an abdominal sonogram. That being inconclusive, he scheduled a CT Scan, which was performed on the 18th.

Judy had a follow-up appointment scheduled for the 25th to get the results of the Scan. Since we didn't hear anything from the doctor in the mean time, we assumed everything turned out well, and I decided not to go with Judy to the appointment. That was a mistake. Judy came by my office after-wards and gave me the news that there were lesions on her liver and pancreas. I was so shocked and so sorry that I was not with her when she got the news. We cried together for a while and then determined to pray for a miracle, or at least a malfunctioning CT Scan.

The next step was to go to a gastrointerologist to perform an endoscopic ultrasound, to take tissue samples from the liver and pancreas, allowing a pathology report to determine what we are dealing with. We had the EUS done yesterday, after which the GI Doc informed us that he found cancer on the liver and pancreas, and on three lymph nodes. We now have another wait of three to ten days to get the pathology report back, telling us the type and source of the cancer. That will give us the information we need to determine our options for treatment.

So far, nothing has turned out the way we wanted. Nevertheless, we know that God has a wonderful plan for Judy, a plan that will be far greater than we could ever imagine. We are still going to pray for a miracle healing, but short that, we want God to show us His plan, so that we can join with Him to His glory and honor.

I want to thank all of you who came by, called, E-Mailed, or commented on Face Book. It is because of the host of friends and family praying and even fasting, that we both have a calmness and peace that passes all understanding. Please continue to pray that God will be glorified through this journey of faith.

  6. Dear Ronnie and Judy,

Terry and I think the world of both you. You two have the biggest hearts and we are hurting for you. We can never express in words what you two mean to us or to thank you enough for your love for us, for Kyle and for Cody. I have groaned and moaned after losing words to pray. I know our Father understands. We will be in prayer multiple times daily for the whole Rawls family.

    Love you dearly,

    Arlene and Terry

  11. Judy, your reaction is not normal. Others would react with fear and yet you have said, "Yes Lord, how can I serve you?". Already you have blessed many. Whether this road leads to healing or perfect healing, many will be watching because you have gotten their attention. Our prayers are with you and thank you for being such a strong example. Olive

  12. Judy, I remember the first time I met you. We were on the same program at Christian Women's Club in Okla. City. I was so inspired by your testimony. I did not forget you. Little, did we know that our children would one day meet and marry and that our family would be so blessed to become family with you and your family. You and Ron have stood in the gap for Gary and I many times and we have loved you for it. We want you both to know we are standing in the gap for you now and our love and our prayers are with you continually. Gary and Cheryl Wright
